Just a thought for today...

What if we could actually behave and watch out for each other?

loan posts

Well... I found out I can't build a feed from KIVA to my blog.  So, for now, I have to copy and paste items over.  I'm all caught up now.

There is a developer site that I will check out.  See if there is something to build this linkage to.

Feeds to my blog

I'm looking for ways to feed my blog without having to re-type / copy and paste / send a link / send an email... an automated way to connect Kiva announcements of when I do something it would land up on this site as well.

Also, to my Twitter account.  Why waste time updating each one of these social items when it could be done at one time?

Looking good...

After a slow start, I finally got to a place where I can lend items with some regularity.  It is interesting to watch.  Truly amazing.

A little behind...

Well... it hasn't been long and I find myself already be behind my daily giving. I will just have to get better. I supposed I could blame my guests and getting sidetracked... but that is just an excuse.

It is becoming fun!

PayPal limitation lifted!

It is actually a nice feature. It is good to know that the account, when accessed from a strange place, will get locked down until you can verify the information. Good thing I wasn't in a hurry.

troubles with PayPal

I'm having issues with PayPal. I'm hoping it won't take me too long to figure this out.

Next week I start!

It took me a few tries, but I finally have everything lined up to where I can start the daily donations.

Where to start?

Like I tell my lovely wife, start small, start with something easy to get yourself going and then things just take off.

If I start with one month:
25 * 30 = 750 + ( 750 * 0.10) = 825

Let's see where this gets me.

I had a thought that once the loans are repaid, the account would simply keep on going and going.

How much am I talking about?

Approxiamtely $10,037.50

25 * 365 = 9125 + ( 9125 * .10) = 10037.50

The idea

The idea struck me when I was taking a shower today. One loan a day. I am referring to micro-loans. Basically, $25 a shot. Similar to the theory of sponsoring someone, but with a potential pay back on many levels. The satisfaction that you, and others, are helping someone that wants to help themselves. And, you will probably get your money back so you can do it all over again.

But can I afford it? Who knows!

First, I'm starting with the idea. Then, I have a bit of research to do. Luckily I came across a recent article in LifeHacker that listed a few micro-loan sites.

  1. set a blog to track this information, the idea - done
  2. how much am I talking about - done
  3. can I embark on this task - to do
  4. find out what micro-loan sites are available - to do
  5. register on sites - to do
  6. link things together - to do
  7. spread the word - to do (see also link things together)
This should be fun!
